Hormone Therapy

Hormones aren't just for hot flashes and ED.

Hormones are active molecules and play a vital role in every single body system.  The far-reaching impact of restoring hormone homeostasis on health-related quality of life is an often misunderstood phenomenon in both the healthcare and lay communities.

With the help of the highest quality products and training from Evexias, this clinic is on an educational mission to dispel the misconception that hormone maintenance is elective and unnecessary.

A myth this practice serves to unravel is that hormone therapy (HT) for women is used simply to abate hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and other nasty symptoms of hormone fluctuations. Furthermore, a myth exists that testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for men is primarily to assist in sexual function.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  In fact, the improved sexual health of men and women are what we call a "bonus".

Androgen receptors are found in virtually every tissue in both women and men from the brain, breast, heart and bones, indicating the role they play in HEALTHY FUNCTION as well as PATHOLOGICAL FUNCTION such as breast cancer, osteoporosis, neuropsychological and neurocognitive decline as well as cardiovascular disease processes.

Hormones play a role in all body systems.

Andropause

Some men perceive they don't have a need for testosterone because they still have sexual desire and affective performance. Actually, loss of sexual desire and performance are late signs in andropause. Performance problems can be  preceded for up to 2 decades with fatigue, poor motivation, irritability, brain fog, weight gain, joint pain, depression or anxiety, poor focus, and insomnia.

Just because you're having a period doesn't mean you don't need hormones. Did you know before your menstruation cycles stops there is a 2-8 year androcan decline reflected in mood changes, irritability, and sometimes, depression. (Hot flashes and vaginal dryness are later signs!). This androcan decline can cause women to have trouble fulfilling their roles at home or work and cause relationship difficulty.

Hormone therapy is specific to every woman. There is a wide spectrum of dosing that can find be found perfectly for you and your symptoms.

As we age, testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone naturally decline over time.  Around age 35, mem experiece a gradual reduction in testosterone, typically 2-10% per year.  For women, pre-menopause may start as early as in the 30s.  In fact, hormone imbalance KICKS IN LONG BEFORE HOT FLASHES DO  by 10-15 years!

What are bio-identical hormones and how do they work?

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy with pellets is a natural alternative to synthetic hormone.  The structure of the hormone--whether testosterone or estrogen or both--is matched to the individual patient's needs. These are natural, plant-based substances that metabolize in our bodies the way nature intended.

What is bio-identical hormone replacement therapy?

Composed of either estradiol or testosterone, bio-identical hormone pellets are larger than a grain of rice and smaller than a Tic Tac.

The pellets release testosterone or estrogen into the bloodstream based on cardiac output, in other words, due to increased physical activity or emotional stress (good or bad).  The steady stream of hormones helps keep symptoms such as mood and energy fluctuations at bay.
